Edge 1040 does not connect to SRM powermeter.

Just got my new Edge 1040. Setup went without problems. Powermeters and HRM was imported from my old Edge 520. Problem is that the 1040 does not see one of my powermeters (SRM). The 520 sees the powermeter without issues. 1040 sees other powermeters. I have tried uninstalling the powermeter from 1040. The 1040 does not recognize the powermeter.

  • I hoped that 14.50 would solve the issue, but it has not. Any suggestions for a solution?

  • I have the same setup. 1040 with 14.50 and a SRM.

    No problems...

Battery empty on your SRM? Old software? Perhaps you write to the SRM Support if they have a newer firmware for your SRM.

  •  It´s not a battery isssue. Same powermeter works on edge 820 and 510. It is a firmware problem or it could be that Edge 1040 does not use all ANT+ frequencies. It seems weird to me that the 1040 does not work with the SRM when older Edge models does. I have contacted SRM for a solution, but I think the problem and solution is on the Garmin side. Since the powermeter works with older Edge models, Garmin knows the solution.

  • @ zachspeed

I have the same problem with powermeter INPEAK... its a big problem of edge 1040...... I have 14.50 firmware , the meter work perfectly with my old bryton and garmin 820  510, that's  very bad for 600 euro device. Did you get any answers from Garmin?

  • Same Issue for me. 1040 reads all other PMeters except this older SRM (battery on SRM is fine because my Garmin 530 reads it perfect).

    Solution should be GARMIN related...

  • I have now been in dialogue with Garmin support (Denmark) for the past 10 weeks. In the beginning I felt they took the issue with my SRM PM6 not working with the Edge 1040 seriously. They asked for, and I have uploaded several files from my Edge 820 that works succesfully with the PM6 and the 1040 that dosn´t. But nothing has come from it.

Garmin support now insist that the problem is with the SRM PM6. My answer is that that since the PM6 works with several older Garmnin models, Garmin must have the solution to make the 1040 and the PM6 work together.

I must admit that it is a bit annoying that Garmin does not recognize that they hold the solution and is responsible for impletmenting it in the Edge 1040 just as they did in previous models.

  • Come on GARMIN… You are better than that. At least recognize you guys have an issue and not blame SRM as that same SRM is recognized by all other Garmins except 1040…

I am also having issues with Garmin 1040 dropping power and Heart Rate to 0 during rides… again it’s not the Power Meter or Heart Rate strap as it drops to 0 with other 4 different PowerMeters… 2 SRM’s and 2 Quarqs.

  • there's a partial improvement: I can connect my PC6 to 1040. however, the connection is flaky: I can calibrate PC6 and I see the power at one moment, and in the next moment the power shows blanks. firmware on 1040 is 17.xx (beta)
