How to send course from Garmin edge 1040 to other Garmin edge device

I am very curious if someone had an idea how to transfer a saved course from Garmin Edge 1040 to another Garmin Edge device. Or maybe there is no such possibility yet.

  • You aren’t paying attention.

Your method was mentioned a month ago.

  • It's quite annoying that the Garmin support site still refers to this as though all Edge devices can do it. The Garmin Connect tip is quite useful - never thought of that so thanks. I tend to use routes that are on ridewithgps so I just get them to configure the connection between the two services then Pin & Sync if they need the route and it will obviously make their life easier from now on as well.

  • And of course routes created on the device doesn't sync to Garmin Connect, those probably can be transferred via copying from device courses -folder to another device via computer/cable..

  • I used this feature to share routes between 1030 Plus's multiple times without issue, and I LOVED it; it seriously saved several 200+km ride experiences because once you're on the road, your options are limited when you find out someone has an old version of the route or something.

I'm crestfallen that they've removed this feature from the 1040.  I discovered this last weekend as my 200km route was broken, and I couldn't get a refreshed copy of it from someone else's Edge.  It would have been the end of my ride, but I ended up having to use hundreds of hand-written cues instead.  In the cold dark rain.

I wish I'd known this feature was removed.  I would not have bought the 1040.
