Seems like Garmin is stuck in the 80s with its software updates. I don't believe this is due to some APAC restrictions. Other manufacturers like Apple and Wahoo make their firmware updates available to…
The Epix updates are without any delay, so that’s not it. I’ve asked many times what the issue is. It goes unanswered. What is done maliciously however is not that updates take many months…

He does it deliberately as far as I can tell. I’ve called him out on it several times. What Garmin does is deceptive to start with, but the continued practice suggests there is some malicious intent. Or a complete disinterest in any customer who is not from the USA or such. I very much would love to find out which it is. However, maybe when they clarify their priorities, I will then really give up and stop purchasing. I usually stand in line to acquire new cool tech from them, but the frustration is mounting.
The development of firmware for a device and or the software for a device will take much much longer where the character set is completely different, in this case Japanese , and the case with any device using a double byte character set.. Please kindly refrain from any accusations of malicious intent on Garmin's part..
The Epix updates are without any delay, so that’s not it. I’ve asked many times what the issue is. It goes unanswered. What is done maliciously however is not that updates take many months more. The problem is that announcements are made that new software is fully available when it is not. That is unnecessary and deliberately false.
Asia Pacific covers 60% of the world’s population. I can’t imagine that it’s simply forgotten that the updates there take months longer. It would make more sense to say a new software is available for a few users; not say it’s the full Edge 1040 series and 100% live.
Seems like Garmin is stuck in the 80s with its software updates. I don't believe this is due to some APAC restrictions. Other manufacturers like Apple and Wahoo make their firmware updates available to all customers seamlessly at the same time. 1040 hardware is awesome but its software is a huge disappointment.
I put my 1040 back in the box. Pending software updates before I take it for any significant rides.
