Charging the 1040 with power cable (what?)

Unlike just about every electronic device I own, when I POWER down the 1040 completely and then plug the 1040 into a power cord on the wall to charge, it turns completely on again.

I imagine it is still charging, but then I find myself having to hold the power button down again and hit POWER OFF.

Am I wasting my time? Should I just plug in the power cord and leave it alone? If I do that it is charging but it the unit is still "on" and I figure it is not charging as fast on as powered off.

Does it charge faster if I then power off the unit when charging?

Would be nice if the 1040 when powered OFF, and plugged in to the power cable, would just charge and not turn on (like all else in the world)?

Thoughts or any help would be great.

If you plug it in to a wall charger, and then turn it off, it will charge to 100% and then shut down itself. That's my preferred way to using the wall plug, always turn it off after plugging in.

Yes, this is what I have been doing. So to confirm you plug it in and then POWER down each time? This seems silly and maybe a bug? Maybe they can get it so when you plug a 1040 that is powered down already into a wall charger, you do not have to then power it down again?

It’s just how it is. Was the same with my 1030 if I recall correctly. It’s easy to adjust your behavior.

My 1030 & 1030 Plus didn’t power on again when plugging in from a wall socket. First time seeing this behaviour on 1040.

All garmin edge units work in this way, it's not a bug

you sure 1030 did this? see above from spiderbundy and I do not recall this happening with mine or I would have been annoyed then too.

You're right. Actually mine seems to turn on and then goes into the "charging" screen. Tried with the old 1000 and does the same.
