Feature Request: Button to Disable the Varia Radar from the Lights Widget

I'd like to disable the radar from the Lights Widget, but that's still not an option on the Edge 1040 Solar.  What I do now is that I end up having to turn the Varia RTL-515 off manually if I'm stopped for a while.  The issue with physically powering the Varia down is that there are still bugs when the Edge 1040 comes out of sleep mode, and the light doesn't seem to reconnect even though the radar does automatically reconnect.  This has been a problem since the Edge 1000 days, but it's still an issue on the 1040 Solar today.  On the latest 14.20 firmware, if I disable Lights from the Sensors menu, and reenable it, the Light Network is reformed, but why doesn't it just reconnect automatically?

  • You only need to install the smart bike light on the edge (set to turn off the light when pausing the record), press the stop record (do not save the record), you can turn off the light, and then directly press the power button to temporarily turn off the edge

  • This enables a button on the Light Widget to disable the radar functionally temporarily?  I don't think so.  There's a button to turn off the light, but not the radar.  To do that, you need to disable the sensor or physically turn off the RTL-515.

  • I've actually used it many times and it does turn off the lights as well as the radar and puts the 515 to sleep

  • Oh, I see what you're saying -- shut the Edge 1040 off entirely.  Yeah, that puts the RTL-515 into sleep mode (most of the time, but I've seen that fail with Edge 1040 as well), but that's not what I'm asking here.  Why not just have an easily accessible button to disable the radar?  That would solve a number of problems actually.  Say, if I find myself on a bike trail for a long time and want to disable the radar and the light from the lights widget.  I ride the Golden Gate Bridge quite frequently, and it's annoying to have the Varia picking up vehicle traffic when I'm in the separated bike lane.  It would be way useful there.

Also, if I put the Edge 1040 into sleep mode, that causes a number of other problems.  My TyreWiz sensors fail to connect via ConnectIQ.  The light network goes down completely and has to be reset.  I guess it's an entire cluster of bugs surrounding the Edge 1040 going into sleep mode and power-cycling during an activity.  I prefer to leave the Edge 1040 running and just have it Auto Pause during a ride.  Putting the device into sleep mode has been way problematic for me.
