Edge 1040 solar fails to sync

I recently upgraded to 1040 from 830. Despite minor issues in the past the 830 somehow always synced my finished rides. For the first month the 1040 worked perfectly. Now, I’m abroad for two weeks cycling and the 1040 refuses to sync my rides to Garmin Connect. It syncs only one way when I create a route on Komoot or Strava. I have tried all suggestions from the forum like; disabling Wi-Fi, setting a personal hotspot, rebooting 1040 and iPhone Xs, manual Bluetooth and Wi-Fi syncing….still it doesn’t work. I usually do not carry my laptop with me when cycling so I didn’t try syncing using Garmin Express (= suggestion from Garmin chat). That’s very annoying and seems to follow a typical Garmin pattern. Last year on a similar cycling trip my Garmin heart rate monitor refused to work! Two years ago Garmin Connect didn’t send routes to device. The very helpful Garmin Chat referred me to a webpage support in Spain (my cycling location now) in Spanish. Thanks! Any help greatly appreciated. Software Version 12.16. Regards, Gregor
