Lost Activity

I finished my ride and pressed the Stop button. Had a phone call and when I looked at the Garmin again the Activity seems to have vanished. No Discard or Save buttons just the main screen to start over again. Checked the Activities directory after getting home no data for the ride itself saved. Any way to recover the Activity?

Thank you. Found 3 .FIT files inside the NewFiles folder. Will try manual upload to Garmin Connect.

If you get any message other than Import Complete, then there is a problem with the file being corrupt. Attach it to this thread. We can look to see if it is repairable.

Zip the file, then in a reply post Insert >> Image/video/file >> click Upload >> browse for file >> OK.
Or upload the fit file to a file sharing service, such as OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc., make the file public, then paste a link to the file in your post.

Those files are from the following day rides all already synched. I contacted Support been told nothing can be done contact us again if the issue happens again.

Thanks for your kind suggestion. I will try to replicate the issue my next ride. I had iPhone connected to Garmin as the call came. Never lost activity like this before. Seen Garmin crashing in the past during active rides but as the unit rebooted I was always able to resume without any data loss.

This has happened to me twice in the last week on my 1040. Hit pause, chat with a friend, go to restart activity and I'm greeted with the main screen. Has not happened when I use autopause. Is it a bug?

Actually happen to me once

But the ride was irrelevant, and I forget about that issue

I thought that I switch profiles, but did not manage to replicate the issue again

That's unfortunate!

This is the main reason I take both my 1040 and 1030 Plus for very long rides, knowing how unstable 1040 is I can use the secondary device as backup. I do remember having a similar issue: My 1040 Reseted in the middle of a ride, but thanks fully the activity wasn't lost it was just paused.

I just recently upgraded from 1030+ the most stable Garmin ever. Thinking to get a low-end 530 and use it as a backup unit for important rides until 1040 becomes a device you can trust. Glad to hear I'm not alone with this.
