MTB Trail navigation: no position by map

Hello,

Using the Mountainbike-Trail Navigation feature the position setting by "Use map" does not work.

How to cause the failure:

1. MTB Trail Navigation

2. Select Trail Network

3. (Map) Setting Pin on Map, Select

4. Start Location is showing "Current Location"

5. Pressing Start Location: Use Map. Setting Pin on map. Select.

6. Start Location still show "Current Location"

The route calculation hangs on Route 2 but will not finish. Abort will cause the message a calculation error.

Before it was possible to set the position by the map and route calculation with a chosen trail worked (leading to 3 suggested routes).

Resetting to factory settings will solve the problem for a certain period but the problem appears later again.

Anyone else with this bug?

Talked with Garmin, it's a known bug. Should be solved during future FW updates.

Bug still as above. Does MTB Trail Navigation work for anyone? 5+ months seems a long time for a main feature not to work (unless no-one actually uses this?).

Got the same error and reported it to Garmin Support months ago (August 2022). No change so far. In the meantime there have already been four FW updates, but the problem persists. The missing functionality was known before August and also affects all other Edge devices that know this function.

Another bug has appeared:

Courses calculated by the MTB Trail navigation are shown starting with a long track line to nowhere (instead of from your current or the selected starting position).

So I'm clear(er!), does this mean you are able to in some way use the MTB Trail Navigation feature at all (ie. beyond this "Use Map" <> Current Location bug)? FYI for me it fails 100% of the time, then again I'm currently stuck at a location where I've had routing-related calculation issues from before.

Yes. After resettet to factory settings, it is possible to calculate some MTB routes. But avoid using current position, since this will cause the aforementioned bug.

Just tried it, a new error appeared: "Select trail network" = "No results found" ... the Edge didn't even come up to selecting the location - do I have to give it up, it's annoying?
