  • My Edge 1040 Solar is still stuck on 12.15 as the latest possible version that can be installed.  Apparently Garmin makes it impossible to install newer versions or beta versions for some of their devices.  However, they don’t publish this.  When asking customer service for help they say that after 4-6 weeks all devices should finally get their software updates.  It’s now 6 weeks since the introduction of 12.16, but even that is not yet available to all devices.  I really wish that Garmin would be open and honest about how they deprioritize some customers.  Now I keep trying to install software every time they announce it only to find out that yet again they did not really mean to say that it is available for the Edge 1040 series; only for some of the Edge 1040 series, but not all.

  • Beta was only to be manually installed, so what garmin is restricting?

You want to install beta, who is stoping you?

if they did not had beta as other company then what?

  • I guess Harmen has an APAC version. That does requires a specific firmware version.

The beta versions and all first releases are always for the non-APAC versions.

If he really has an APAC version, he will have to wait (long I guess), first for the upcoming probably 15.0 firmware update, then for the APAC version of that. I do not expect an inbetween version for APAC models.

  • To be honest I don't understand also this APAC policy" or whatever they call it. Maybe this is related to RTL, but if that is realyu the case, then it is an 1980's excuse.

  • Apac=asia pacific , yes you are right, no restrictions on this partFace palm

  • I know what APAC is. The issue is not the hardware - the hardware is already with the customer. Soto me it should not have indeed a restriction on any firmware. I can guess it should be RTL but again this should not be an excuse on this century.

  • Yes, I do have an ‘SEA’ version, which is something I only found out after asking customer service to fix the watch since it doesn’t accept software updates.  In other words, Garmin is entirely silent about this and keeps announcing new software that is actually not available.  Worse, there is no information whatsoever about when something may be available.  Even the claim from customer service that new releases (non-beta) will be made available after 4-6 weeks turns out not to be true.  I’m surprised that Garmin is taking this legal risk of misrepresentation and false claims.  I’m also surprised that they can’t just write a toggle in their software that allows them to run any version.  Any question around this is answered by nothing but silence, except by all of you great people who are also trying to help figure out what is actually going on.

  • Gplama addressed on the YouTube channel  Gradient Lag problem, hope that this will speedup and open eyes to Garmin

  • Bug found , trying to pair Varia RTL 515 but it only recognize Radar , nothing about light recognized , tried with old 1030+ recognize radar and light together as it always did..

  • Hi Maxime, please note that this is the case (for some of us) in previous versions of the software. Did you have it working in production software and now it doesn't in beta? Just trying to make sure devs are chasing an introduced bug, rather than a long standing one.
