Question about segment settings

So the following settings exists for segment:

1. Activity Profile -> Segments [on/off]

2. Activity Profile -> Data Screens -> Segment

Show Screen [on/off]

Pop Up on Segment Approach [on/off]

My question is, what is 1. option for?
