1040 Solar on 14.12 and RTL510 is a nightmare for me

Hey all,

Anyone else having massive troubles getting the RTL510 to connect and stay connected?

I am resorting to deleting it from sensors, the radar and the light, each and every ride. And even then it disconnects multiple times, or the light network disconnects but the radar stays, or vice versa. All the beeping only adds to the aggravation.

I've had the radar for several years, and it has always been flawless. On this latest round of firmware, man is it taking work.

Here's how I am fixing it:

Turning the 510 off, going in to sensors, deleting radar, deleting light.

Turn the 510 on until it flashes purple, then add sensor, add light. It only shows radar and I select it. After that, it says forming light network.

Then I start the ride and hope for the best.

At the end of the ride, I turn the radar off entirely, and charge it up.

Anything else I can do?

the radar stays connected to me too, but the light goes out repeatedly

Good to know it's not just me but this is affecting safety and I hope there's a fix for it quickly.

I have the non solar.14.12 and rtl510 works fine. You can try to revert back to fw 12.16.

Yeah I know I can revert but that opens up a whole new barrel of monkeys.

Same for me too, it's a pain in the rear. Did the remove and add again thing, but really you should expect better integration

While it still disconnected today multiple times, it was better.

This time I deleted radar, deleted lights.

Add sensor, and instead of adding lights, I added radar only. Then the garmin formed the light network. Previously I added lights and then radar came with it.

The downside is the lights widget said no light network.

Seriously guys come on with this silliness.

You should report to Garmin, instead of just complaining in this forum like silliness, pain in the @ss, etc. After all, it is a beta, and that's what betas are for. To discover bugs before final release. You are not forced do install betas. That said, it's always frustrating with bugs. Betas or Finals.

It's been reported. And yes it's a beta, and public betas invite...guess what. Feedback. And bug reports. And forum posts, on a site constructed for users, by the manufacturer of the device! So don't talk down to people.

Mine won't come on once light network is formed. Ditto front light. I have to turn off light network in order to get the unit to work.

I did have the same/similar problem. Prior to 14.12, I never had a problem with my RTL500. After 14.12, about 10-15 times during an hour ride it would say "radar disconnected" at the bottom of the screen and at the same time "radar connected" at the top.

Last night, I removed all of my CIQ apps from the /Garmin/Apps/Media folder, and then reinstalled them. I rode this morning for 90 minutes on 14.12 and not a single disconnect. Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not.
