Activity Profiles button missing from Home Page

I no longer have a big button to press to change the profile on my 1040-Solar.  I now have to go in to the menus to switch profiles.

Am I missing something or is this a supposed improvement :) ?? 

Any idea how I can get the profile back on, I have different setups for my bikes so this is a bit of a pain at the moment! 

  • When you have set up more than one profile you can press the left or right side of the top, swipe left-right, or as you did go through the menu.

  • He does not have the profile switcher anymore. 

  • Correct, the switcher is no longer showing and there is no option in "Glances" to add it back to the home screen.  The ONLY way I can now change activity is through at least 4 steps via the menus.

    What did Garmin support say when you contacted them? Was there any specific action / change that made it disappear, I presume it was there when you first got it / transferred previous profiles? Can your re-transfer previous profiles with GCM to re-establish multi profiles and maybe the switcher will reappear??

  • Yes it was there since I got the unit back in June - I was under the impression I may have disabled it somehow (though a process of telepathy as I've not changed anything else other than updates that have been pushed out!) 

    Seems we are stuck in the typical Garmin 'Beta programme for early adopters' - it's been like this with every Edge unit I have ever owned over the last 9 years. Contacting support just ends up in an endless cycle of resetting everything back to defaults and me having to spend a lot of my time putting it back to how I had it.  I'm not really up for months of that! 

    Unless I am missing a simple config switch, sounds like it's yet another Garmin bug, but I am interested if it's happened to anyone else. I'm on v12.16, I'll try the beta and see if that re-instates it.

  • Given your post has been up for 2 days, there is a fair amount of activity here. (at least reading) and the subject title is clear and states the problem if anyone else had this then they would have said so by now? I agree Garmin's software practices would have got me sacked in my previous life as a developer. The beta might be your best option, at least it will reset stuff, you should though still contact support in case there is a specific problem with your device and it should be replaced. Have you tried re-using GCM to refresh profiles, might also help?

    ps, was it ant+ or BT telepathy, maybe too much interference ?

  • I've never got the BT bit working, suspect it must have been ANT+ (on an out of spec frequency :) )

  • hhhmmm .... the home screen on my 1040 shows the profile at the top, just below the status bar and I can tap the left or right side to change the profile that's active.
