Thank you for everyone's discussion on this experience. This is now under investigation and we will update this thread when possible.
I had my Rally XC’s die without warning this week. The sensor record in Garmin Connect showed battery OK on Aug 13, but on Aug 20 the pedals wouldn’t even connect. I never saw low or critical battery warnings…
My Rally XC200 (on firmware 4.00) also died without warning this week. According to the Rally manual you should get a low battery warning so it would appear this is a bug - though I'm unsure whether this…
Did a ride today. Garmin 1040 Solar firmware 14.50, Rally dual firmware 4.0. Had about 20 minutes notice before the pedals died. Pulled batteries, left was 1.8 volts and the right was 2.9 v. The ride prior had everything okay.
Same for me. I went to a race. Battery was reporting okay (I made sure, as I wanted a working power meter during the race). When the race morning came the device went dead after 1min of working. Battery change resolved the issue. Very annoying that the indication does not work.
Same here. XC200 (firmware 4.00) with Edge 1040 Solar (firmware 14.50) died during a ride without a prior battery warning. After replacing batteries everything seems to be fine again. Before, there was no indication that battery levels could be critical for the XC200, e.g. in the after-ride report regarding the sensor battery levels on the 1040.

I'm another one who had this experience. I had around 80 hours on the original batteries, and was wondering how much longer I could go. I didn't receive a low battery warning. The very next day, the pedals wouldn't calibrate. I replaced the left battery, and went another 7 - 8 hours before the right quit.
Interestingly, I did get warnings on my Vector 1 pedals during the past week.
Same here with rally pedals. Today I couldn't calibrate them. Left pedal didn't connect. I've changed the battery from the right one and it has worked(only left) till I dunno when.
No low battery warning and it shows as ok in GCM
The battery icon will not show a fully charged battery with Vector/Rally. The way the battery status is reported on these products is more like the battery warning icon in your car. The batteries are either good or bad. The pedals report a status of "OK -> "Low" -> and I think "Critical"
The way the status is mapped to the battery icon on the Edge is that Good will show as a partially filled battery icon as there are two level above OK. These being New and Good.
Thanks so much for this! Now my mind can rest easy!
