Music widget doesn't pause

I start playing a podcast using a podcast app on ios 15. The music widget shows the podcast as playing with the proper timestamps. Now, if I hit pause on the music widget, the podcast stops playing but the timer, on the widget, keeps running. Now, if I press pause again on the widget, the podcast starts playing and the timer shows again the proper progress.

  • So the widget pauses but only the timer keeps running.
Is the timer in the podcast app also running or only in the widget? Im listening a lot to a radio station with its own app. If I put it on pause, the app will still count because it is live linear radio.

  • Only the widget keeps running. Put it simply, the widget doesn't reflect when audio player on the iphone switches to paused.

  • I don't have the music widget yet, 12.16 version. But it's useless anyway. Having phone in a pocket I won't hear a thing. Or does the sound goes from the GPS instead?

  • I think some wear a single earbud in whichever ear is curbside.  In the US, since we drive and ride on the right hand side of the road, an earbud in the right ear.

  • Didn't thought of that. Thanks!!! another battery bugger, unless You're going to use wired ver. Cheers

  • The earbud/headphone doesn't connect to the Edge.  It connects to your phone with very little impact on (at least my) phone's battery.  Hence the music widget controling the music on your phone.  Slight smile Thumbsup

  • Awesome. How about direction beeps. Music plays via headphone and beeps still coming out from GPS device?

  • In my experience, yes.  All of the normal beeps and blips still happen on the Edge.  If using navigation on the Edge, it beeps when it's time to turn.  You can turn on the audio feature so that the turn instructions are spoken to you via the bluetooth earbud (and the Edge still beeps.)  That's very nice.  I like that.

  • Interesting. Where to turn this feature on exactly? Imagine having 2 earbuds - one for music, one for turns. Personally, can't bear mobile navigation pausing music playing in the background so it's nice to see Garmin did great job here.

  • Let me start off by saying NEVER WEAR EARBUDS/HEADPHONES WHILE CYCLING.  Always give 100% of your attention and hearing to your environment.

You turn it on in the phone's Garmin Connect Mobile app.  Short of retrieving my 1040 and creating a step-by-step how-to, I can tell you that it's located someplace after you tap the devices icon at the top of the screen (the one that shows the line/circle going clockwise around while syncing).  If you have more than one device actively connected to GCM, then you will see a list of those devices.  Tap your Edge device at that point.

It will not send turn directions to just one earbud.  Which, by the way, I do NOT recommend wearing an earbud in your traffic side ear.  You need to keep that open for safety reasons.

It will not pause the music when it begins speaking, but it does lower the music volume considerably.
