Battery drain

Hello,
I have a 1040 non solar.
Sunday I turned off the device with 85% charge.
Today 1040 did not turn on.
Unfortunately I found the battery at 0%.
why? I had turned off the device.
  • That's good to hear! I'm going to test the Beta software too!

  • With the beta software , same problem. Not solves

  • I tried with the new software version 14.20. The issue persists. However I noticed one difference. If I turn the 1040 on and off again, the issue doesn't occur. That's why I mistakenly assumed the issue to be resolved. However, when I record a bike ride and then it off afterwards, then it hangs at power off. This seems to have an impact.

  • Had my first issue with battery drain yesterday. I finished a ride and then left it as usual.... morning after it was completely out. Happened only after updating to the latest 14.20

  • You are not alone, I had this once so far. I was not sure if it was me or the 1040 had actually drained the battery. Obviously not me. This is a shame as the battery is one of the few positives of the 1040.

My 1040 was definitely switched off, nothing on the screen, just the black screen.

We can only hope Garmin fix this as I only found out just before starting a ride. I had to revert to the 1000 as I sync Garmin with Strava (I have also bought a Karoo 2 as I’m very unhappy about the 1040).

  • Again, long press switch off does the trick for me. I.e pressing the power button until the screen goes blank.

  • I can confirm the workaround works but would like to see a proper fix regardless! Grinning

  • I had this happen twice. 2 weeks ago I charged mine to 100% then I go for vacation for 1 week. When I tried to turn it on after returning from the vacation its totally dead. Ok maybe I forgot to turn it off. Charge it again then going for a ride just fine. One week later its dead again. My wahoo bolt never experience something like this ever…
