Edge 1040: No access to settings page from map screen

From the map screen, I sometimes want to adjust the screen brightness and turn on and off different routes (aka "Courses" for some unknown reason) to be overlaid on the map. These things could be accessed quickly by swiping down while on the map screen (or any data screen) on previous devices.

Unfortunately, on the Edge 1040, Garmin have introduced new quick-access settings that require a swipe up on the map screen to turn on or off Segments, Popularity Map and Course Points. I've never wanted to activate these things, but that wouldn't matter if it didn't mean that it's now no longer possible to access the settings that I do want from the map screen, even though the swipe down still works on all other data screens.

Can you please bring back the swipe-down settings page? I use that more from the map page than from the other pages, and it's really annoying to have to switch pages before I can access it.

  • This function does appear to have returned in the latest BETA firmware update, 14.13.

  • It does work, but you need to start the swipe at the very top of the screen.
