After 10 Days Bicycle Holidays with the 1040 Solar - Bug 5 - Radar very often reconnecting

I have the same problem. It makes me extremely irritated. It happens often.

What FW do you have?

I had this problem, delete radar and light and repair , since then I did not had any problem 

But I have Varia Radar rtl515

latest FW - 12.16

the radars were deleted and paired.

is your 515 connected by ANT+ or BT?

I also have the 515 and unfortunately, deletion/adding hasn't changed this behavior on any firmware up to and including .16 that is installed now.

I checked now and seems to be ANT+ 

But when I transfer the sensors from 1030 to 1040 , I had the same problem, and even worse, I had connect and disconnect in the loop 

I am wonder if something matters if you close the radar and reopen (manually ) or leave it open and have the Garmin open the radar based on the activity 

I have set up all sensors and profiles from scratch for the 1040.

The rtl 500 will always shut down very soon after an activity. so i have to start the radar alway manually.
The rtl 510 will stay in standby. No difference...

I just double-checked. Mine is also ANT+

Is there any reason to think BT would be more stable?

Did not tried , not sure if radar can be connected over BT or not to Edge, if yes , then you can try 

The only drawback it can drain little bit faster Edge battery

i don't know if ant+ or bt will be more stable. but if there is an issue, after deleting and re-pairing my next try would be changing the transmission standard...

The radar unit will only operate over ANT+ with the Edge. The BT connection is only supported for use with that the GCM phone app and that only came in on the RTL 515/516.
