Garmin 1040 won't turn off

Yes, I have the exact same issue since I bought it. So the recent update to 12.16 hasn’t improved it.

Yep, had the same on a few occasion.  Sometimes I’m sure its still in the middle of doing something.  Actually happened last night when it was on a borderline connection with the bike.  This time I just left it in that state and a few minutes later it just responded normally.

I started a thread on this exact issue a few days ago:

This is different.  Don’t get the power symbol. The device simply doesn’t respond to the power button. 

::: sigh ::: me too and often.  I can tell when it's going to happen because my ride doesn't upload to Strava or Garmin Connect.  Hopefully they're working on it already

Having the same issue, when powering off it will occasionally freeze with the power on/off icon on the screen. Recently the screen goes dark as if it’s off but then it is totally dead the next morning as if it was left on.  

Here it is the same... and the date and time of my activities are very often not correct... keeps the date and time of the last ride...

I'm on 14.14 and having shutdown issues almost all the time  

I'm on the latest software and having the same issue. This is really frustrating for a new unit. This also was happening with my garmin 1030 but not nearly as frequently.
