12.16 Route to start= Route Calculation Error

This used to work on the older versions. Now I am on 12.16. Today I decided to turn around on my ride and go home a different way. So, I chose Route to Start-> Most Direct Route.  I got a message saying “Route Calculation Error”. I tried it again at several places on the way home and it failed every time. This was in a metro area that is fairly dense with streets.

    I had many issues with route calculation in different scenarios. Almost each navigation attempt (to POI, searched location, random point from the map, etc) ended up with device freeze. I reinstalled the map with Garmin Express and it solved the problem. Maybe it is worth trying and will help in your case too.

    I had the same (kind of) issue with Route to Start feature: the map went black after calculating the route and the device got freeze. 

    I’m using 3rd party OSM since the Garmin Express one doesn’t work on my 1040

    This is not a new bug. On my 1030, 1030+ and others, from time to time it gives you the error and it doesn't want you to go home.... And other times when it does (in my case), the track it chooses is useless, I He does a few laps that not even the taxi drivers when they want to rip you off.
