Tyrewiz Update

I received this from SRAM earlier today. Thought I would share here.

Thank you for reaching out to us.
I'm sorry you are having trouble with this.

Turns out that we are needing to update a few things within the Garmin IQ app on our side to allow Tyrewiz to be used with the 1040 series.
Our Apps team is on it and should have a fix for this within the next couple of weeks.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this is causing, but I'm hoping this can be resolved as soon as possible.
Please keep an eye out for updates in the app store.  I will also keep this conversation open so that I can let you know once that update is ready.

Cheers

  • I installed it this morning before I went out on my bike and it works. The letters are very small in the 1040 because it is not adapted, only compiled to work but well...

They should polish it up a bit more. Allow only 2 decimal places, and sound alert when going below a defined pressure.

  • will Garmin support the sensors directly from the unit rather than via connect iq app. Hammerhead have recently implented this feature with alerts when the pressure drops. Ultimately it's an ant + sensor like the other sensors

  • Not sure I understand the first part of your comment? When comparing the font size between my 830 and my 1040, definitely the 1040 has the values way bigger than on the 830. So it's definitely scaled to the size of the screen.

But I tend to agree, not sure why there are 3 decimals in bar. But it has been like this since the beginning of this datafield, in the end you get used to it.

  • if you choose a small datafield it has a "small" size, but if you choose a wide datafield, much larger, the font maintains the same small size(in 1030+ font is bigger with wide datafield) . I had a wide field (of 2 small datafields), to see the numbers big (I have presbyopia), and it is useless because they look just as big as in a reduced datafield.

You get used to the 3rd decimal but it doesn't add anything, and it's take space... not so clean to visualize.

An acoustic alert would also be missing if the pressure drops a threshold (as other manufacturers do), so at the time of puncturing you have an alert and you can avoid a good scare, if you puncture going down and reaching a curve and you have not noticed, for example.

And it is correct. This APP has not changed since its launch and has not received any love, adaptation or improvement. And it can be greatly improved with options such as those mentioned, giving the user a choice.

  • ok I see

I'm satisfied with the small datafield but I understand your needs. And I also agree it could be useful to have it customized according to our needs.

As for the alert, there's a visual alert but I agree the acoustic alert could be an interesting addition. But hopefully we could choose to turn it on or off, as sometimes I don't want my device to beep just because I'm running too close to the threshold due to very cold weather for example...

  • exactly. One toggle in configuration for activate or deactivate alert sounds. The upper and lower limits are set from the SRAM APP, and are stored in the sensor. That's very good.

For your information, in my case, I have the limits configured "wrong" on purpose to always have the values on a black background because I see them better, and when one goes down in level, it goes blank. This is a personal choice

  • 2 years Hammerhead for this feature.... Now it supports because SRAM adquire Hammerhead.... if not surely we continue without support. That's why I sold my karoo1
