Navigation page doesn't show up

Since I received my shiny 1040 I browsed through the settings of the navigation screen and found a setting tot only show it when there is a route loaded.

Seemed perfect for my taste, so I tried it.

It didn't work. I found out that I needed to load the activity profile again, after the route was loaded. So switch to indoor and back to my main profile, then the navigation screen showed up.

Is this setting something that is new to the 1040? Ive never seen it on my 830 or 820, but might just have overlooked it.

Is this a known bug that this setting doesn't seem to work right?

Apart from switching or setting it to always on any solutions?

I would also love this setting for other screens if it worked the way it should. So I can setup a screen with eta, and time/distance to next turn for instance.

  • I was unable to recreate any issues with the navigation screen settings on my side.

To clarify: When you switched on the setting to show the Map only when Navigating on a given profile, you loaded a course but this did not make the Map page visible. You had to switch to the indoor profile, then back to the original profile before this was displayed? I just want to clarify exactly what went wrong/how you resolved this on your device.

  • Yes

I start riding, then load navigation. It won't show the map screen, until I change and reload the profile.

Ive made yt of it can I send this in a DM?

  • Sort of the same for me. The map doesn’t show up even when navigating, only when a turn comes up and then it shows the turn and once the turn is done the map is no longer available.

I have to always have the map screen on for it to stay available.

  • Didn't change with 12.16 software unfortunately.

  • I dont have a full reproduction scenario for you , but I have seen it. this is what i did  i have the map set to "when navigating" in my road profile.   I rode for an hour to the start of a group ride without navigation, but the 1040 recording.  whilst we waited chatting, i went to navigation, found the route, pressed start navigation, select dont navigate to start. we started the ride, but map not to be found.   edit profile, switch to map always. and the map was there.  did no press ride or navigation stop or restart.
