TyreWiz sensors in Garmin 1040

is there a way to get the TyreWiz sensors to work on a 1040? I can live without other IQ plugins, but for me who have several sets of sensors on my bikes, this is a must, and neither Garmin, nor the developer, nor Quarq say anything about it. It's been almost a month, I don't ask for anything new... ¿any info?

  • I also got Airspys for my bike.
I think setting the CobbectIQ datafield isn’t more complicate than others, but I see some downsides.
    a) the data is NOT live. I displays a point of time, then searches for the other possible 3 bikes and then shows data from bike 1 again. If you ride, it’s ok. If you want to use it while inflating or deflating, it’s almost useless.
    b) if the pressure alarm goes off, there is no way to mute it. If you have a small leak and need to ride 30kms home, you better hurry or go crazy (or delete the data field).
But I paid only 50€ for both

How does the Tyrewiz datafield behave in both cases I mentioned?

  • Tyrewize displays near-real-time data, so pumping/adjusting is super easy. This has become my primary use case. This wasn't my original desire, but the convenience of this surprised me and I've come to rely on it. Accurate readings of air in the tire, not in the pump.

Tyrewiz can be a little temperamental when other tyrewiz sensors are around. I feel like this has become more stable over time, but maybe I've just gotten used to the oddities. Fun wondering where all the air in a tire went. Unable to find a leak. Then realize you are looking at data from your buddies tyrewiz sensor. :) Fun times.

Still, despite the imperfections,  these are a great product.

    Thanks for the insights

  • When

pumping, I connect using the phone app as it’s easier to see: likewise not been in the situation but it would be easy to set the parameter wider in Garmin Connect to silence the alarm if nescessary
