Edge 1040 not syncing training plan

Have a training plan working fine on an Edge 830.  Am used to moving activities around in the calendar on the GC web, but nothing will sync this to the Edge 1040, where every day is a rest day.  It still syncs fine to the Edge 830, but given that I rely on the training plan, the Edge 1040 is sort of useless at the moment.  (Am using Solar, but can't see that makes a difference.)

Any advice? Input?  (I have tried using GC express, the GC app on my iPhone, synced, resynced, etc.  Bizarrely, all the training programme activities did appear on the relevant days - briefly, once - and then they all disappeared.

PS: Have since tried deleting the existing training plan and creating a new one: the new one has partially gone across, but this week is missing 2 activities, whereas it has all gone fully across to the Edge 830.  That suggests it's not user error.  But if it doesn't all go across, this device is not much use! 

  • Welcome to the joy that is Edge 1040 ownership….I’m sure this and myriad of other issues will be fixed….some day, but yes, I have the same issue described here. I end up having to check my TP app on my phone before a ride, then try to “guess” at the prescribed work out from the available work outs in the 1040’s workouts menu until i match up the number of steps…but yes, they randomly appear and disappear from the Home Screen and calendar.

    I also have the 530 and Fenix 7 Solar which are fine.

    I’m always on the bleeding edge….don’t know why I do this to myself, but this time is really bad…I don’t think I can recall a device as bug riddled as the 1040.

  • Hey so I have a similar issue. Workouts I sync from TrainingPeaks don't appear on the home screen or in the Training Plan... but interestingly they do appear under Training / Workouts. Weird.

  • I had same issue with TP. Disconnect TP and the reconnect helped

  • I noticed that too, but you can find it under the Training menu item, where you can also call up the workout of the day of 1040

  • Same issue, calendar is emty on edge at the same time in connect shows good.

  • My post does not concern tight synchronization with TP, but it is related to irregularities in training. This is shown in the photo. In my calendar I have known that today I have a rest day and higher in the suggested daily training is training.

  • Go to System -> Device Reset -> Delete Data and Reset Settings - after reset and sync everything works

  • This method may be effective, but it results in the loss of all settings.

    Basically I created a workout from scratch in the garmin connect app: Training->Workouts->Create a Workout->Bike->Save(I used the default settings)->sync with the edge and voila the training plan is there now.

    There's only 1 month of workouts synced to the edge instead of the whole training plan, but it's better than nothing.

  • Well..well..well...I am a 1030+ user and wondering if 1040 had this issue fixed..Apparently, not. To fix this issue, go to TP, rename one of the workouts from calendar. For ex, append a character or something, save it. Wait 30 seconds. Go to Garmin Edge, Wifi and sync your device. MAKE SURE Connect on your phone is disconnected and Bluetooth is disconnected.(at least this is an issue in 1030+). It should sync all your workouts to the calendar. In almost all cases, the workout themselves are synced...just not added to calendar,
