Migrating 1030+ to 1040 – TOTALS are faulty (or missing)

And once again – migrating from one Garmin to another is a pain in the a***.

I used the official method – using the Garmin Connect App (iOS) to migrate the 1030+ to the 1040. Many screens, sensors, assets are transferred just fine. What totally fails is the TOTALS (accumulated miles/kms) and all associated data like rides or distance. Out of my 185 rides only a fraction (26) are passed on – same for kilometres 561.1 out of 3568km.

Also tried the other – very old school – method by copying the Totals and Activities/Rides from the appropriate folder on one device to the corresponding folder on the other. Used the method for ages – always worked – this time the rides/activities and totals are totally ignored.

Any Idea on how to move all rides and totals?

PS it's a pity the startup screen hack (showing "LOST – please inform inform XXX" (free text) does not work anymore – the 1040 is immune to that file.

There is little point in transferring past rides across. If the 1040 is anything like previous units if you get to around 200 rides in the activities folder you will see strange things like rides not syncing and not being visible.

In regards to the totals, If you have a FIT file editing tool you can edit the totals.fit file on the 1040 with the relevant numbers. If you don't you can ask someone here to do it for you if you provide the numbers and fit file.

If your profiles are the exactly same on 1030+ and 1040 you can try to put the totals.fit into the NewFiles folder on your 1040. I don‘t think it will work - but worth a try…

Tried the Totals folder (where the 1030 file was ignored) – will try the NewFiles folder and report back.
