POI management

Hello,

Is it possible to see POI on the map?

how do you manage them?

Well, that's a question from my side as well.
Could add own .gpi files on the EDGE 1030, however EDGE1040 doesn't support that so far.

So far no solution concerning own POI I am afraid.

You can view them at the appropriate zoom level on the map. You can configure what that zoom level is.

You can use Garmin Basecamp to create POI (Saved locations)

Sorry I was conflating saved locations with POI's. They are actually two different things. The 1040 currently does not support importing POI's.

You can control at what map level the POI's from the maps show up.

That's a feature all the units all the way back to the 800 (at least) supported.

I suspect, if the 1040 doesn't support POIs (had the code for that removed), it will never support POIs.

I would not make the statement it will never be supported.

As Raimaker mentioned in his review the UI on the 1040 is completely new and not all things were re-implemented for day one.

We have seen this in other others such as some of the Di2 support. Here Garmin added some of it back in the recent updates and have said that more is coming back in the next release.

Then Garmin is not entitled to list unfinished features in Spec list at product launch.

I would need to check what they are listing. The unit does have POI support in terms of what is built into the maps so it could be that is what they are referencing.

The spec page has no mention of POI's at all

Then the "Here Garmin added some of it back in the recent updates and have said that more is coming back in the next release" is irrelevant. The 1040 does not claim to support POI.
