connect to pc windows 10

my 1030 used to connect to pc and i could see it in file manager and garmin express worked.

My 1040 is not seen and garmin express could not find it. I guess it is not a mass storage device. How do i configure it as a mass storage device so it can be seen ?

It is mass storage device. It should automatically go into mass storage when connect to PC.

You can try forcing it into mass storage mode.

With the Edge powered off hold down the lap button.

Connect the USB-C cable to the Edge. Keeping holding the lap button down until the Edge reports that it is in USB Mode. This could take 30 to 40 seconds.

I was not able to get my 1040 with what I think was the USB cable that came with it to go into USB mode. I tried a few USB-c cables and the only one that worked was one that came with a GoPro 8 that I have. I wonder if I received a charging only cable with mine instead of a data cable...

Edit: I believe the USB-C cable supplied with my 1040 is data capable. I have two short cables with no branding and I think I mixed up which came with the unit. Curious since every other USB cable I have received from Garmin has had "Garmin" imprinted on the device connection end...
