Blank screen when adding Connect IQ data fields

I just ran into this today, perhaps it's new with the 12.15 firmware release. When configuring a data field, if I select Connect IQ, instead of the list of Connect IQ fields on the device, I 

see a completely blank display. Tapping the display returns me to the screen where I select which type of field to add. Oddly, I can still configure Connect IQ fields from the Connect app. But from the Edge itself it completely fails.

  • I just tried both adding a new page and select a CIQ field as well as changing an existing page, and I didn't have any issues.  My CIQ field list, which is about 8 long shows up no problem.  So you select the Connect IQ category, which should bring up the list of installed CIQ DF's?  This is where you are seeing just a blank screen?

    Have you already selected other fields?  Is this a new data page?  Maybe you could give exact steps you are doing to get this.

    I'm also on 12.15.

  • Yes, I have other CIQ fields configured. And the error just changed (I haven't changed anything, so I don't know why) If I look at the CIQ category, it shows that I've selected 8/10. But selecting one gives the message that I need to replace an existing CIQ field to continue. Perhaps now there is a limit of 8 rather than the displayed limit of 10?

  • Interesting.  So it's all working for you now, other than seeming to limit you to 8?  I know the watches occasionally get in to a state where a profile has "ghost" CIQ fields that aren't actually on a page, so you can't remove them, and they keep you from adding a 2nd one.  Only way to fix it is to "Reset Profile", and re-set it up.  If you look at the raw profile in a fit file viewer you can see this.

    I rarely add more than 4 CIQ fields but I'll have to give this a try when I get a c hance.  If you want to post the activity profile, I'd be happy to take a look.  It would be in the Garmin\Sports folder.  You'd need to put it in a .zip file.

  • I just played with this a bit.  I was able to add 10 CIQ fields, however 4 of those were duplicates since I only have 6 installed on my devices.

    I added a page with all 6 of my CIQ fields.  Then added a 2nd page with 4 of those repeated.  All were working.  

    Trying to add an 11th, I did get the error.

    One thing I did notice, though, is you can't add CIQ DF's while creating a new profile.  Create New Profile -> Data Pages -> add page with CIQ fields.  You can add them, but they show up as IQ's, and then all turn to Timer fields.

    Once you've saved your new activity profile, you then can configure and add CIQ fields.

    I was not able to reproduce your scenario where it limits you to 8.  Your sport.fit file probably would help Garmin diagnose this.

  • I have the same issue with my Edge 1040 Solar device. While editing from the application is possible, it would really be great to be able to modify it from the device itself. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?

  • I suspect that the root cause is that one or more of the downloaded CIQ apps or fields are problematic in some way. I wiped all of them from my device and I'm installing them again one by one.
