Weather sync/no connectivity?

Even with the latest 12.15 update, the weather widget is not syncing and the weather app says "phone connection" required, despite being linked to my phone via BLE obviously.

What am I doing wrong?

Connecting to an iphone on iOS 15 latest version.

Disable BT on your phone (in settings, not control center that’s only disconnecting). Turn it back on. Also force quit Garmin Connect and restart it.

Yes. Without the app there is no internet for the EDGE.

So you need the Garmin connect app open and connected on your phone as well?

thank you! I used to use an edge 830 and simply didn't realise that the connect app was requirement for that too! i guess it just always connected without me realising.

I find it bizzarre that it needs connection everytime it is power on, even if it is on the same day.
I don't recall being the operation mode on 530/830. I think it downloaded the weather data for some time.
I understand the aim is to have accurate data, but at least to give the users the choice, or to have some buffer. I did some ride in the morning, turn the device off, afternoon it is already asking to connect to the phone to have weather data.
Doesn't make much sense to me.
