Has the 100 Live segment limit on garmin edge devices finally been removed on the 1040?
Has the 100 Live segment limit on garmin edge devices finally been removed on the 1040?
Ok, i have now bought a 1040, first thing i did was check the limit, still 100. im running software v14.14, does the non beta firmware have a different limit?
This is not true. Actually more the opposite. My Strava Live Segments pop up when free riding only (not a route/course). When riding a course file someone sent me, they never pop up as was explained they…
oh so it's the wording, it's not that they only work in courses, they work in Free riding AND courses you personally create in Strava. That is clear yet disappointing and the reason so many people report…
If they are creating Strava courses then they can send you the link and you can go to the course and create your own copy. I think Strava might calls that duplicate.
@weatherall,
So for example, this was sent to me for an upcoming ride.
https://www.strava.com/routes/2863444786922516722
This will never show strava live segments as I did not create it (it was sent to me) even if I have starred segments that appear on this route somewhere.
is there anything I can do to get the SLS to appear?
Can I duplicate it and make Strava think it is my own route file in some way.
I think you get what I am trying to achieve like so many.
Thanks!
Yes if you duplicate and star it that should work.
ok, I duplicated it on my computer and saved it as a new name.
I then starred it and sent it to my 1040.
When I ride I will be very interested to see if SLS appear.
Barry
When you load the course on the Edge to use it you should see the segment start/end points show up on the course point list page that gets added to the active training pages when you load a course for use.
Also if you view the course in Garmin Connect you should see that the segments
Yes, I tested this by taking a route given to me (I did not create), duplicating it, renaming it, loading it on my 1040 and hit Ride.
I see the COURSE points page and many things listed as you said.
Are these all MY starred segments and you believe they will pop up while riding the route (now that I duplicated the file)?
Any starred segments that lays along the path of the course when it was created. If you star a new segments or unstar an existing segment that lays along the course then you need to make a some small change to the course file in Strava to cause it to be regenerated to pick the changes up.
I never make routes or anything, can you recommend the smallest easiest way to make a change to the route on the strava page so when I rename it, it becomes my creation to see if live segments appear?
I do not want to ruin the route.
I think just moving either the start/end point by a tiny amount and then saving change.
Thanks, I will try this and try for a route this weekend.
