startup.txt doesn't work

I noticed there is no startup.txt in the Garmin folder.

Even if I create a new startup.txt file in the Garmin folder, the text doesn't display on bootup.

I'm running 12.14 beta.

This has been covered in a couple of other threads. Support for it is not currently there. Garmin has said they will add support, but have not given a timeline.

I just got my new 1040.. and found this does not work on the 1040 yet.. feel somewhat uncomfortable without name on the new toy.

I read the beta version (believe newest is 14.19) does allow Startup.txt so hopefully this rolls through to a new software update soon.

Yes it works, but cuts the string at the first „special character“.

In German language:

„Eigentümer des Gerätes:“ cuts to: „Eigent“
