Charging Screen

My 1030 and 1000 both turn on when connected to power. Always have. It was quite useful on the 1000 when the power button went dodgy (as they often do)

I have two 1040s.  If I plug in it boots up.  I then turn them both off and they show a charging status.  But one of them will briefly show the charge disconnects and reconnects, causing it to turn itself back on within a few seconds.  So I can't charge without it turning on, which means hearing BEEP if I get texts.  Seems like a hardware issue.  Is this what is happening to you?  1 of the 2 does not do this.

*Edit* seems like a 3rd party USB cable was causing the issue. It's fine with included cable.  But even the faulty cable doesnt cause issues on the other edge which is very odd.   For now I'll still assume it's okay since the included cable didn't have problems.

When I turn it off I don’t get a charging status like I do on the 1030 plus.  it still charges even though the screen is blank/off. Earlier I just plugged it in and let it turn on then go automatically into sleep mode to charge.

When in Standby/Hibernation (don't know which term is used, mine is in German language -> "Ruhezustand"), it shows the charging screen, when completely turned off, it boots up. Hibernation works great for me and keeps the battery level, so I don't switch it off completely.

Mine behaves like this but only when charging from brick. When charging from pc it’s ok. 

Since I put the beta update on mine switches on when initially plugged in, I then turn it off and just the normal charging screen 

I have a brand new 1040 and the backlight stays on while charging, is it normal? Seems like it adds to the charging time.

Same as mine...what a stupid thing...charging and using battery...
