Custom text responses on Edge? (similar to Fenix)

Hey. New to Edge bike computers, I was out for a ride and got a message, wanted to send a quick reply but see it was only Garmin's canned options.

On wearables, the responses can be customized. Can we seriously NOT do that on an Edge device?

What am I missing?

EDIT - as of March 2023, this appears to be an available feature!

Would like to see support for this get added - I kind of assumed it would on a next-gen Edge. I've had it on a couple Forerunners and it's nice to set up replies I'm more likely to use.

Oof. That’s disappointing.

Maybe someone at Garmin thinks people shouldn’t be poking their Edge while riding… but then why have ANY text response options? No, this seems like an oversight - the Fenix/Forerunner devs don’t share code or management with the sports devs.

Garmin! We wait for this function! I was shocked to find out that I couldn't edit responses in such expensive hardware!

In addition to the usual text editing, I would like to see "dynamic fields" and creating, for example, responses like "I'll be back in [time to reach my destination]" or "I'll be back at [time when I get to my destination]" (when I navigate)

It would appear this was quietly slipped into a firmware update sometime between last summer and now. Fantastic.

NOTE: Edge 1040 “rest of world” (not APAC) running firmware 16.11, Garmin Connect app for Android version 4.64 (update 28 Feb 2023).

If you’re using older versions of either - or iPhone - you’re probably out of luck.

Oh I see now. Connect IQ on phone -> Device -> and the functionality is last on the page.
