New Edge 1040 Public Beta 12.14 Now Available

A new Beta software for the Edge 1040 has been released. Full change log, instructions, and software for installing the beta can be found in the link below.

Notes:

  • For any issues that you encounter please fill out the form included in the download and attach it to an email to [email protected]. Please note that you may not get a response to the email unless we need more information on the issue you report.
  • Although this software is believed to be reliable, it has not yet been released for production and should be used at your own risk.

Changes made from version 12.11 to 12.14:

  • Fixed sensor dropouts when using Connect IQ data fields
  • Fixed Power Guide not working for users with high FTP
  • Fixed workout page being removed from the timer loop
  • Fixed segment data screen data fields
  • Improved product stability

Installation Instructions

  1. Connect your Edge 1040 device to your computer using the USB-C cable.
  2. Download and unzip Edge1040Beta_1214Beta.zip folder.
  3. Copy the GUPDATE.GCD file from the Edge1040_*** distribution folder to the \Garmin folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  4. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the Edge, and wait for the update to finish.
  5. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, follow the above steps but place the GUPDATE_1211.GCD file in the \Garmin folder. Rename the file to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device.
    NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.

    I have some segments pop up, but it is hit and miss, many are not popping. I can't find any differences between them.

    If you exit the segment popup, are you able to navigate back to it? I cant seem to. Once I switch screens to another view there is no way to get back to the active segment.

    Ummm.  If you have been buying new models since the edge 305 then the problem is not garmin.... it's you ....  definition of insanity.  Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result!!!!

    Well I really appreciate all the efforts of you beta (& alpha) testers and I would like to do my bit too, really would, promise I would only say nice things but unfortunately Garmin does not want my money, no retailers in my region have stock, have never had stock, don't know when they will get any stock, Garmin regional web site site is  taking orders (& payment) but it says "Ready to ship in 5 - 8 weeks", never realised I lived in such a backwater and of course Garmin does not permit overseas retailers to ship to my region even though they are so keen to that they are mostly pricing at about 80% of the garmin listed regional price, how strange is that. Oh well maybe christmas if I am a good boy, yeah, chances of that are pretty slim.

    Worked awesome for a gravel race today.  129 km.  Installed Windfield.  Worked great

    So i did a short ride on Sunday. Much better with the beta firmware. I was able to use connect IQ fields. I did have a sensor drop out a few times but nothing new there, i got them on my 830. 

    Segment popups seem fixed but there are still some issues. You get the you win sound when you complete a segment, but didn't win it. 

    Climb pro page persists on the list of climbs after the climb was complete, even though i have the page set to only show while on a climb

    Map maps wouldn't show even though i had it set to show when navigating, it did show the up ahead page which was pretty pointless to me given i had no waypoints set

    Beeping when calculating route.

    I tried to make a course route manually, with many way points. And it worked well, but I press calculate routes. It beeps many times when the precentes goes up. Think it beeping on every way points in the course list.

    Same for me Strava segments don't seem to be working
