STEPS takes over AXS gear information on the display

Just received my 1040 Solar. When connecting to my Orbea Rise with EP8 motor, it disables reading from AXS even if it is connected.

No problem with this on my 1030. Tried to delete the AXS sensor and reinstall, no change. When I turn off the motor, correct AXS-data is displayed.

Exactly the same situation for me, 1040 with Orbea Rise. It collects all the shift data as it shows up in the AXS web app but doesn't display in the gears data field when the Rise is on.

Yes it’s very annoying and I have tried to log a bug report with garmin for a month, still unsure if I have had any success. Have to say that I wonder a lot about lack of quality at garmin when they allow this kind of basic bugs to slip. What about regression testing? This error will haunt them when 1040 is out there in numbers.

It took 6 months, but finally the 1040 has the same functionality as 1030. In the latest firmware 15.23, an ebike with Shimano STEPS and with SRAM gear will coexist and data will be presented on the 1040 screen while riding!
