Ride Sync over Bluetooth doesn’t work (eBike Data)

Hi,

I’ve got a problem with my new Edge 1040.

When I end and save a ride it doesn’t sync to Garmin Connect if I’m connected to the iPhone with Bluetooth. It works only with Wi-Fi and even in that case I have to force the synchronization.

The Edge connects fine with the iPhone and syncs everything except the rides!!!

I tried to reset the device but nothing has changed.

Does anyone have a solution or some suggestions to try?

It’s so frustrating…. and every time the same with new devices…

Thanks.
Federico

  • All that money! Top end device and not fit for purpose what have you got to say garmin????

  • Found something interesting today. As I once again connected my 1040 to the PC/Garmin Express, I opened the Tools & Configuration (or whatever it was called) section. Here I was prompted to log in to my garmin account on my device. Seems somehow it has been logged out while still connected to my phone/fenix/bike... this might be why it didn't upload via WiFi.

I'll report back after my next ride - can anyone else check if this is the case on their devices as well?

  • Had a new beta update today all working fine now!

  • Uhm!?

    No beta was released today.

  • Mine updated yesterday to 16.06 now it’s working don’t care wether it beta or not it now works Grin

  • Still happening here. Did everything recommended, turning off WiFi, Bluetooth, restarts, including uninstalling connect app and resetting 1040. Latest firmware and latest iOS release. Nothing is working. Sync "works' but rides are never transferred. Only thing that works is to sync with cable and Garmin Express to computer. Incredibly frustrating and disappointing given my Wahoo syncs without any issues all the time. This can't be such a hard problem to solve. Get your act together Garmin.

  • Hello

I have the same problem. It is erratic, sometimes it syncs others does not.

I believe it has something to do with Garmin Connect more than the Edge 1040 since I have started to have the same issue with my Fenix 6 PRO Solar. Nevertheless, I am able to force the synchronization turning the devices (Edge and Fenix) off and on. When I do it, the sync goes through.

This type of issues that seem to simple to solve if one had access to the code, and so elemental that Garmin should solve them ASAP are free burdens on their brand name, definitely not smart.

  • I thought I'd fixed the problem by following the instructions to unpair and re-pair etc. it worked once at the end of a ride but not sure if it synced over WiFi or Bluetooth.

    The problem is back.

Finished a ride away from home and it failed to sync over Bluetooth to my Android phone. Now I'm home I tried forcing a sync over WiFi by selecting Wi-Fi sync in the WiFi settings but getting 'Sync Failed'.

It's the 1990s again having to upload activities using a USB cable.

  • Why is there total silence from garmin on this matter? It’s obviously a big problem but some acknowledgement would go a long way. I’ve had many garmin watches and bike computers since the 705! Feels like I’ve gone full circle with the inability of the 1040 to sync activities, mine won’t even do it hardwired to a computer now.

the only way I can get it to sync rides is to reset after each activity, poor show garmin on a £500+ device, would really like a comment from you

  • Adding some weight to this topic to raise awareness Slight smile

    similar issue for me

Road and Indoor rides syncing fine with bluetooth

ebike rides can only be synced when connecting to a computer with Garmin Express
