Synchronize device during activity

Hi,

Can anybody confirm that in 1040 during active activity you can synchronize device with Garmin Connect Mobile? In all older devices (1030+ included) when you are during active activity you can not let say add new course from Garmin Connect Mobile until you stop and save activity.
It is solved in wearable Garmin devices. For example in Fenix/Epix I can pause activity, choose save later, then create new course on Garmin Mobile Connect, synchronize device and resume activity.

    I will test but ive found this started working on my 830 recently so i think they have fixed this

    Are you sure you can do this on 830? I have had 530, now have 1030+ and on both it is not possible (newest firmware and newest Garmin Mobile Connect version). 

    To be sure we are talking about the same: start activity, create on Garmin Connect Mobile new course, save in and send to device. Check on device if you can find this course. I am almost sure you will not be able to find it because to finish transfer from Garmin Connect Mobile you need to synchronize you device with phone and during activity synchronization is not possible.

    I just tested it and it works. Started an activity, opened GC mobile, selected course and selected send to device edge 1040. A sync starts and the course is available by going home>navigation WHILE the activity is still running. 

    Note, you can't trigger a manual sync from the edge during the activity, that option is greyed out.

    OK, thank you for confirmation on 1040.

    I am still curious abut your 830. Is it working this way on your 830 too?

    I'm sure it did work but I can't tell you now as it's on its way to its new eBay owner
