Can anyone report if Garmin have fixed the issue that the 1030+ has with ridiculously long responses to changes in gradient?

Thank you for sharing your concerns about the undesirable lag in road grade. We want to share that we have a plan for an improved solution with consideration of both accuracy and responsiveness. Our engineers…
@Garmin-Mathew.
If you really believe that 10-15 seconds delay is considered “normal” - as the official statement from Garmin is trying to force-feed customers, then what does that say about my Edge 1000…
I currently have a wahoo element (full size) a karoo2 and now a 1040 solar. as of the 12.14 release the 1040 solar still has a ridiculous lag as compared to the other two. I really don't care too much…
Not as a percentage of the total number of Edge users. Simple example, almost everyone I know that rides has an Edge. I have never seen a single one that
displayed the gradient field. Everyone I know cares about total elevation gain for a ride. Nobody I know cares about real-time gradient. Based on that small sampling I would say that the percentage of people that use gradient is small. That would make this a low priority problem compared to lots of other things that are broken.
We have different realities for sure.
I have ridden this year in Colombia, Peru, Panama, USA (Miami & New York), France (Paris & Nantes), Spain (Bilbao, Valencia and Madrid), Iceland (Complete tour around the island) and every year I ride around the world.
Most of the people I ride with care about grade they ride, when they ride it.
Maybe you shold try using the data field and could find it interesting as well.
@calicyclist. I can confirm that Garmin Varia Radar units work indeed 100% with Wahoo head units.
@djwalker. Well then, you must obviously be experiencing selection bias with your statement that: “Nobody I know cares about real-time gradient”.
Or you only know 1 or 2 people.
Contrary to you, “everyone I know” indeed cares about real time, real reliable, real fast grade display - you know - like with the old 1000 and 810 and 1030 (non +).
Hi Camilla,
Thank you for your thoughtful insight.
Did you ever consider that perhaps many of us realized this major flaw, only AFTER we were past the return window?
