Can anyone report if Garmin have fixed the issue that the 1030+ has with ridiculously long responses to changes in gradient?

Thank you for sharing your concerns about the undesirable lag in road grade. We want to share that we have a plan for an improved solution with consideration of both accuracy and responsiveness. Our engineers…
@Garmin-Mathew.
If you really believe that 10-15 seconds delay is considered “normal” - as the official statement from Garmin is trying to force-feed customers, then what does that say about my Edge 1000…
I currently have a wahoo element (full size) a karoo2 and now a 1040 solar. as of the 12.14 release the 1040 solar still has a ridiculous lag as compared to the other two. I really don't care too much…
I think it may have been suggested somewhere in these 40 pages, but after getting completely fed up with the lag in gradient change and the resulting uselessness of ClimbPro, I tried the ConnectIQ app called "Sensible Grade" and I do find it is significantly faster at updating compared to using Garmin's stock data field. That is with it set to the "Fastest" setting on the app's smoothing filter. Perhaps it is the placebo effect and I'd be interested to know for sure if it is. YMMV, but give it a try if, like me, you were ready to throw the 1040 in the river.
I'll try this one as well. I've tried winfield & climb gauge and 1 other. Let's see. I'll take any workaround :)
On the ClimbPro page you can add data fields below. I guess you could add "Sensible Grade" there and have an instant 1:1 comparison.
I appreciate the thought, but that is not the place, displaying the gradient on the edge unit is not a new "Idea" it's already there (so it will just get ignored by Garmin employees) , the newer Edge devices just do it worse than they used to on the older units and worse than the competitors like Wahoo and Hammerhead.
You're also right about complaining in this thread, it does nothing except help get the frustration off our chests so to speak.
Personally I would love to switch to the Karoo 2 if it was just about the head unit and the basic functions, but I'm a Garmin user for many years and own the Edge1040 (previously the Edge 1000 and Edge 1030) and a Fenix 6 Watch. I love the fact that all the data these devices collect sync across and combine, (Physio TrueUp) to give you a training status, HRV (Heart Rate variability), Acute Load, VO2 Max estimations etc if you ride with a Power meter and heart rate monitor and wear the watch 24x7. All this information from this data is free, it gives me very similar results about my condition that a Whoop Band would do, Whoop being a very expensive subscription service. So the Garmin Edge 1040 is way ahead of all the competition if you make use of all the features which work very well (most of the time).
So i'm not going to switch to a Wahoo or Hammerhead, I'm just going to put up with this grade fault when out riding, I've found if I create a course using accurate data from a good map source with elevation data. when Climb pro kicks in on a climb it gives me the correct grade information I need while climbing no problem at all (start and Finish). Also I believe coming soon is Climb Pro in a Free ride (No loaded course) for the 1040 This will use new maps from Garmin with elevation data in them, so that's where the grade information will be calculated from.
If you really want to get Garmin to do something about the detected "real time" grade issue, I believe the best way is to call into Garmin Support and hassle them over it, but I believe people on the this thread have already tried that without must success.
I was told by a Garmin Support Specialist to go to that site and submit the issue. Yes "Grade" is already on the device but if you talk about the Lag issue they will see that. So If a lot of people submit issues with this for a feature that already exists they will see the problem and the amount of people complaining about it.
If Garmin is really ignoring a 41 page thread on THEIR forum (the biggest thread) then we have little hope
But yes, the more that report it formally the better
So how many of us have formally reported it to Garmin?
I'll start +1
E-mail addresses are very easy to find as well. I have sent multiple e-mails to their CEO, Product People, Development as well as their 'idea' submission online. Have never received even canned response in reply. Their corporate strategy is just to lockdown and completely ignore. Not saying to stop trying but they are aware and they are choosing to ignore it.
What is funny about this is I have searched with WEB and YouTube I haven't found anything regarding this issue other than this Forum. I think what needs to be done is a couple hundred YouTube videos on this issue and maybe that will get their attention.
tejen25 Again, they do not ignore. In the product management / software company world you prioritize. So they just give other things a higher priority than this. Because their user research shows it is not important enough.
