FYI, the silicone case and lanyard don't play nice with each other

My 1040 Solar was just delivered and I noticed that the silicone case does not fit well when the lanyard is on as well.  So if you are like me and won't leave home w/o the lanyard you will either have to do without the case, deal with it not fitting quite right, or make your own hole in it for the lanyard to pass through (which is what I might end up doing).

  • Mine works ok.  You run the lanyard out from under the case by running it toward the 1/4 turn mount  NOT out the opening for the charging cover.  It's not perfect but it works fine.

I also always use the lanyard since I was descending a rough road at about 40mph and went onto a bridge.  The computer bounced out of the mount, off the road, over the bridge rail, and into a creek.  It was a total loss.  So, since then- a lanyard.

  • That does work better.  Seems like Garmin could have put a little more thought into that though.  Thanks!

  • It does work "better" but not great, even out the back of the device is deforms the case and pulls it away from the edge of the lip that it's there to protect.

Since this is Garmin's flagship cycling computer and both accessories are included in the box, I'd say it's a miss from the design folks that they are not 100% compatible.

    Bummer.
