Does 1040 support Chinese and Japanese or do I need a APAC specific variant just like before?

Do the European and American 1040 support Chinese and Japanese? Or do I need to buy APAC version?

    Garmin official response to me is to purchase different (additional) Edge 1040 units based on the location you go to.

    Navigation will just not work appropriately for those wanting to use “ASCII” based units in Japan.

    For UTF8 support, probably consider Wahoo as an alternative to Garmin.

    Given the Edge 1040 is the same price as a mobile phone which displays all languages without issues (UTF8) and is a more powerful device. This is also an alternative.
