Edge 1040 can't enter cogs larger than 45 for SRAM AXS

I have raised a support ticket on it.

Were you connected to the system at the time you tried to select a a preset cassette.

If you were connected it should offer

10x50 and 10x52 (12 speed)

I deleted the sensor (1x12 Eagle AXS) and reconnected it while standing next to the MTB.  Also tried to set the sensor details while at the bike.  Several weird things in sensor detail: 1) Correctly lists 1 front gear but lists it as 39-39, 2) lists 12 rear gears but offers 0-23 as the suggested cogs.  That 0 tooth cog won't do much.  Here are screen shots.

I have repeated this 3 times and got the same result each time.

Something does not look correct there. If you would be willing to collect some ANT data I can take look. Otherwise you may want to contact Garmin Support and work with them.

My suspicion is that could be because it is a 1x system.

Let me know and I can give you details on how to enable ANT logging.

One additional question.

Have you upgraded the software on the shifters any time since you first set the system up?

If so there have been reported issues of the system losing some of it's configuration data even though it still works.

Yes, my system is on the latest version of the AXS firmware.  The shifters have remained paired the entire time.  They have no idea what gear you are in.  All those smarts are in the rear derailleur.  In fact, the entire AXS system does not know the cog or chainring sizes.  There is no place to enter that info in the AXS app.

I understand that, but what it does send is the number of cogs in the rear cassette. That information is used by the Edge to offer up either 11x or 12x cassettes in the preset category list. That information appears to get lost at some point in the software update process and gets reset as part of the pairing process between the RD and the shifters.

What preset cassettes is the Edge currently offering you?

It turns out that I am an idiot.  When you click on the rear cogs in the sensor details the menu that comes up has "Gear Presets" as the first line.  I thought that it was the menu title.  So, I never clicked on it.  Turns out that when you do click on it you get a list of cassettes and 10-50 and 10-52 are in the list.

I still think that you should be able to edit a cog at least to 52 teeth so if you have a non-standard MTB cassette you can still enter it.

You are correct about the manual editing of gears and Garmin told me they are working on a fix for that.
