Whilst I am riding, I sometimes need to change my route and normally plot all my routes on Komoot. I have found that if I have a ride in progress, I am unable to sync a new course from Garmin Connect. Can this issue be fixed?

With more people going on adventure rides
Does GCM need internet access to transfer courses?
If so, you might not be able to rely on cell service on you adventure.
Well most people don't want to bother with the CIQ stuff, it is just a big can of warms. Garmin implemented features are always more useful. And transfering a course from GCM is the standard method, the one people use. Developpers may like the CIQ stuff but users don't. But we can disagree on that, that's fine.
To the other question yes GCM need internet connectivity to transfer a course, it essentially download it from the server and then transfer to the Edge. The course is not stored on the phone. So no cell coverage not transfer. So you need to be diligent about getting all you need on the device before you leave for an off-grid adventure. But it only forces you to plan your trip ahead of time which is not a bad thing.

I don't think that you can generalize like this.
Yes: most data fields are not needed!
No: there are many thousends of users (including me) who also love the CIQ stuff. There are some extremely useful data fields or apps:
-HMs DIY datafield
-Appbuilder 5+ datafield
-GRouteLoader App
...to name but three.
(But you have to study and engage with them)
And transfering a course from GCM is the standard method, the one people use.
Many people use other methods.

This is wrong too. Most of the people using the "IQ stuff" are not developers.
The point is almost all users use GCM and nothing else. And yes most CIQ users are not developers. The point is rather that most Edge users are not using CIQ.
No, lots of users get routes in other ways. Your experience is just limited.
While it's fine requesting Garmin add the feature, it might take a while (if ever) to get it.
Using IQ apps lets people do it right now. For not much effort if they are reasonably-competent.
You really don't need the feature if you can wait. You aren't much help to people that do need it.
