Garmin Edge 1030 Battery Draining Overnight When Turned Off

I always turn off my Edge 1030 after I download my rides. I only charge it when the power gets fairly low or before a big ride. There have been 2 instances in the last week where the power level is fairly high, like 80%, but then next time I go to use it, it is at like 10% or less.  Has anyone else seen this start happening recently?  Maybe I’m losing my mind and I didn’t really turn it off but it’s weird it happened twice in a week but never before....

  • Still doing this on mine.  very frustrating.

  • Try what I suggested, like I said works for me

  • just a try that worked well for me.....

leave your device switched ON untill it switches off by itself, (may last many many hours).... before recharging.

I had a similar issue and this procedure helped stabilizing batterylevel indicator.

  • Please Help!!!  if there's anyone that can assist I'd really appreciate it. I found this video online addressing Edge 1030 battery issues https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaF-PiZ1aUI The final fix is to delete a folder and a file when connected to a computer through the file finder. The folder and file is meant to repopulate when you disconnect and reboot. Unfortunately this hasn't happened and I stupidly didn't make copies before deleting. The unit now won't take a charge past 18% If anyone can email me a copy I'd really appreciate it, the file is called "RemoteSW"  Email address - [email protected]

  • Does it mean you leave your device until it switches off and then connect it to its USB charger?

  • Yepp, excatly that way.

  • At the end of a ride my device spends about 5 minutes transferring data after my ride has uploaded , no idea what it is, maybe courses or segments. If I turn it off during this process I get the problem everyone reports.
if I wait until this process is finished I never have a problem with battery drain when switched off.
I suspect it’s a bug that it continues working in the background even though the screen is off.

  • Good news, think I've cracked it. Did a full reset, deleted the folder in file in the video, drained the battery to shut down and it is now taking a full charge. The only thing I would do different is empty the RemoteSW folder not delete it as it didn't self populate, I had to recreate it manually. fingers crossed this has fixed it for now.

  • Just took mine out of my gear bag to check.  I used it last week, let it transfer, then powered it down.  It was at 80%.  This morning - 0%.  I don't know why Garmin does not fix this.  Why should users have to jump through hoops to fix the issue?
