i sync and as soon as its finished syncing the garmin pops up with the message deleting segments then a second message pops up deleted all segments

  • Excactly what I see the last 2 weeks. What has changed?

  • My segment's it's also deleted :-( strava premium to February 2020

  • I have the same problem on both my 1030 and 820.  All the live segments disappeared on 14th September.  I have tried refreshing all the segments by switching to Garmin segments and enabling Strava live segments again but this does not work. I have also tried both the mobile app and Garmin Express.  When I update via Garmin Express, I can see all of the FIT file in the New Files folder but they don't get processed by the Garmin device.

I have the same problem. After upgrading to software 8.0 I can no longer view the Strava Segments on my device. If I enter the Training -> Segments section this folder is empty and tells me to sync it from the Garmin site. I tried to connect and disconnect the Strava account, the Garmin Connect account several times and even restore the Erge 1030, but the problem persists.

The guy did say to try this first it didn’t work for me but may work for others

    Windows:

    1. Plug the GPS device into the computer
    2. Open the Computer
    3. Open the Garmin drive
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Delete the GarminDevice.XML file
    6. Eject the GPS device from the computer
    7. Power on the device

    Mac:

    1. Plug the GPS device into the computer
    2. Open the Garmin drive
    3. Open the Garmin folder
    4. Delete the GarminDevice.XML file
    5. Empty the Trash
    6. Eject the GPS device from the computer.

Once your device has successfully powered on it will automatically create new XML file. You can then reconnect your device to the PC and continue without any issues.

  • This appears to be related to a change Strava has made in their output. Garmin have told me they are working with Strava to get this resolved.

It can’t be just Strava as my unit also does it with Garmin segments
