European maps have disappeared after a software update

I recently updated my 1030 to the latest software version. Having done this, I noticed that the detailed maps for most of europe have gone. I now only have europe NE installed, and the is the only one that can be enabled, alongside the base maps and some other eu DEM(?). All other european regions arent there.I have tried to reinstall the entire europe map and when I do this, it initially says that it is reinstalling all of the european mapping and that it will take 22 hours, but it then updates in approx 20mins, says that the european maps are installed, but it is still only the NE map. I am currently in France, but I bought the unit in the UK. Tha detailed mapping for all of europe was all there before the software update. I am running garmin express on a mac.

  • Garmin Express for Mac is broken and cannot handle latest map updates properly. Your only option is using Garmin Express for Windows. See this discussion for more details:

My edge 530 is now a paperweight a few weeks after buying it after stupidly *updating* it via a Mac. Loads of people must be left without any maps, there's posts going back around 3 weeks about this issue. Not everyone has access to a PC/Windows me being one of them. How hard can it be to fix small bug in a reasonable time? Quite embarrassing.

  • Incredible... well it is not as if many people use apple machines LOL...  just when I start actually trusting Garmin.... I honestly cannot believe your reply ... Basically it is sod off and get a windows machine...So no prospect of fixing the Mac Bug ...

  • So no prospect of fixing the Mac Bug

We don't know that. Perhaps Garmin will fix it eventually.

And in the meantime mac users can use the workaround proposed in the discussion I linked above.

  • The problem that was preventing one of the maps installing using Garmin Express on a Mac computer has been resolved in the latest version of Garmin Express (6.17.0). You can download the latest copy here: https://www.garmin.com/en-US/software/express/

  • This solution solved my problem.

Upgrading to the latest version of Garmin Expres (6.19.0) for Mac did the trick! ;-)

  • I am using Garmin Express 6.21 and this issue is still happening.  I am using a Mac to update my Garmin Edge 1000 and the maps in the U.K. have significantly reduced in detail such that only major roads are showing.  What solution can be proposed?

By way of an update to my previous question, I went into my Garmin’s files and deleted all of the large map files (there were 3).  Then I went into the Garmin Express for Mac and told it to reinstall maps.  Everything is now fine.  Hope this information helps others.

  • Just to reiterate the importance of having the latest version of Garmin Express when updating/installing maps.  I bought a 1030 a few days ago and after updating etc, found it had no routable maps - the map was enabled but not visible.  i could only see the base map.  I didn't realise my GE version was old.  Update to 6.21 and the map reinstall has worked.  I now have the routable Europe NE map.
