Strava Segments not showing up on screen

I know this is a common theme but I can’t seem to get to the bottom of why it doesn’t work. If someone can help I’d be grateful.

I have Strava Premium
I’ve created the route in Strava, starred the segments and saved
Strava and Garmin Connect all set up ok
Everything synchs up fine, downloads course fine to Edge 1030
enabled all segments on Edge 1030
started the course but nothing shows up when riding the segment
i have two data screens set up but I expected the segment to appear on a separate screen - nothing

what on earth am I doing wrong do I need to go to a certain screen

It is a problem with Garmin - somehow never fixed.

To have segments on route do following:

1. Un-star your route and segments on Strava.
2. Remove route and segments from your device (delete them all).
3. Now first star again your segments and synchronize to Garmin.
4. After your segments are downloaded on Garmin, star your route on Strava and synchronize.

So more or less trick is to have segments first on your device and then route that will use this segments.
Maybe there is a simpler way to have this running properly but above steps works 100% for me.

Also note that Garmin has problems if there is too many routes and segments loaded on your device, just for sake of have this problem go away I always remove everything from device.

When everything is done as above, when you choose on Garmin route to ride and click "Ride" then you should have additional screen with list of all segments on that route. Also they will be visible on map and additional screen pop up when you are close to segment.

I have tried your procedure on my garmin 840. Now I do see the segment on my course on my garmin 840. I see a green start en red stop sign. However I do not see the segment on the course in Garmin Connect. I have got it to work once and I noted that I could see the segment that time in garmin connect as well. I saw 'flags' representing the start/end of the segment.

When that is not the case, so when I only see the segment on the course on my garmin 840, the segment screen is not visible. Also the segment does not start when I'm nearing or riding the segment. Any idea?

If you can see segments on map on your Garmin device it seems that procedure above is working same as for me. This is good.

Now to have "segments list" screen and automatic info about approaching segment remember to enable segments on your device so check if 'Profile -> Segments" is enabled for your profile that you are using. Also check if all segments that you have on your device are enabled 'Training -> Strava Live Segments". They should be 'enabled' automatically after downloading from Strava but.. who knows. (and also remember that you will see only flat or uphill segments since downhill are not supported because of safety reasons (?)).

So with above steps when I load a route via 'Navigation -> Courses -> Saved Courses -> [some course]' and click 'Ride', I got additional screen in my activity looking like:

And that is all - if above is not working I have no idea what you can do more. All commands from menu are for Garmin 1030 but I hope that Garmin 830 have same/similar.

Regarding seeing segments on Garmin Connect i have no idea - it never worked for me. Maybe it was some kind of feature which is not supported any more?
