1030 plus to 235 forerunner heart rate ?

Need help just bought a garmin 1030 plus having trouble with connecting my garmin 235 watch heart rate monitor as only seem to work if I set watch on recording a ride if not on this screen it times out and turns heart rate off on garmin 1030 plus if that make sense any help much appreciated

You’ll need to enable the heart rate broadcast mode on the FR 235 (check the User Guide on the steps) and then add it as a sensor in the Edge sensors menu. As far as I know, you can't record on the watch while it's in broadcast mode.

Thanks for reply I have enable the heart rate broadcast on the watch but only seems to broadcast when you set to record a ride sure must be able to broadcast without recording a ride

Yes, HR should display on the Edge HR data field whenever the watch is connected.

But it only connects when I select a ride or on normal screen for 5 mins then goes into power save mode and stops broadcasting

I don't have a 235 any more but never had that issue. It would occasionally freeze on a constant HR value requiring a restart but otherwise it worked OK.
