Garmin Snelheidssensor 2

Hi all,

I have 2 bikes, an MTB and a Racebike and I want to measure my speed better than only via GPS on my Garmin 1030.

Sometimes when I'm riding in a forest the speed isn't correct for both bikes,so thats why I want to buy a Garmin Speedsensor to have the correct speed always.

Can you confirm that it's a good idea tot do so?

Question is, is is better to buy 2 Sensors, one for MTB and one for Race or is it easy to switch the Sensor between bikes?

I know you can set the wheelsize manually or automatic.

Please advise what to use best, if automatic will do then it will be easy to switch, if not I think it is better to buy 1 for each bike as I have to change Wheel size every time.

Hope you can advide me in this one,

  • In my opinion, the use of a speed sensor is absolutely recommended.
Garmin sensors are hub-mounted sensors. Mounting them is a fiddly job with your fingers between the spokes.
It is therefore not advisable to use one sensor for 2 bikes. In addition, the wheel circumference should be set manually for each bike. With the automatic setting, the system always tries to determine the wheel circumference again using the GPS-measured distance. This is why this value always fluctuates.
