Latest Australian Map Release Date

My new 1030+ Australian map is over 2 years out of date. Local roads built around 2 years ago aren't appearing. My Garmin shows I'm riding through a cow paddock, while my fellow rider's Wahoo shows the new roads. Garmin Connect says I've got the latest map. Garmin Australasia told me they don't know when the new map will be released and they show no interest in finding out. Garmin HO doesn't have an email address and my emails to other countries asking them to direct my query to Garmin Head Office are redirected back to a disinterested Garmin Australasia. Does anybody know approx how often the Aussie maps are updated? Thanks.

The current routable map should be 2023.10 and Trailforks map 2023.20 I don’t believe there is a set schedule for map updates but they can only be downloaded and installed using Garmin Express.

Another option is to download maps from a site such as https://extract.bbbike.org/ (use the Garmin latin 1 format)

The bbbike map I downloaded is current and worked perfectly today. Not sure why keeping maps up to date isn't a priority for Garmin. It's not a good look for the brand.

When you say "I don’t believe there is a set schedule" are you speaking on behalf of Garmin or as a customer?

As an Australian user of Garmin products, I gave up on the maps from Garmin about a decade ago due to their inability to provide timely map updates (in fact, for the Edge 1000, over many years they have never provided a single map update). I've been using the maps from Velomap ever since, which are updated once or twice a month. You need the non-Unicode maps, due to a Garmin bug that prevents any of their modern Cycling GPS units from being able to load Unicode maps.

As a new Garmin customer, I'm amazed that Garmin doesn't ensure its customers have access to reliable Garmin maps.
