Gradient Field

On my ride I have notice the gradient field at 0%

It shows a negative value when going downhill eg -1%, -2% etc

When going uphill it also shows negative values -5%

Is this a new feature on the 1030+ or am I reading this wrong and expect a positive value when going uphill ?

You should see a negative gradient when descending, but the gradient and elevation fields on the 1030+ have always had an unacceptably long lag in giving readings that correspond even approximately to reality, meaning that on a rolling course, you can come off a descent and start an ascent and the gradient field will still be showing negative values and value in the elevation field will still be decreasing. Garmin's response has gone from "We're looking into the problem" to "This is how it's supposed to be", despite the fact that their older GPS (1000, 1030, etc) do not have the problem. Thanks. This explains why it suddenly started showing positive values on yesterdays ride, even when I was going downhill

I'm surprised that DC Rainmaker or Llama haven't covered these issues on YouTube when reviewing these product with glowing endorsements.

From the looks of it, based on recent reviews Magene or Byton is about to eat Garmin's lunch and all they need is a stable easy to use UI
